Our church provides many opportunities to serve both within the church
and in the world beyond our doors. We promote our spiritual growth within
the congregation through such ministries as our music program, our Bible
studies, our Sunday School program and our youth activities. Below is a list
of some of the outside missions/organizations we currently support, both
financially and with our time.
All Church Community
St. John’s was one of five
founding churches of this ministry, along with Mt. Calvary in Fruitland,
Friendship in Allen, Mt. Olive Christian Fellowship Church in Fruitland, and
Trinity Faith Christian Center in Fruitland. This is an organization of
believers banded together to share Love, Hope and Unity with the community.
As part of this ministry, an All Church Community Choir has been formed with
members from each of the church’s choirs. We sponsor an annual picnic which
is open to the entire community featuring this choir, as well as other
musical performances throughout the year. Other past activities include
providing a Christmas Breakfast for residents of two local shelters,
assisted the City of Fruitland in their Annual Easter Egg Hunt, and
providing cookies to the Allen and Fruitland Police Departments.
Food Pantry at First Baptist Church of Fruitland
On
the first Sunday of every month our church takes up a collection of
perishable food items to donate to the food pantry and we also offer
financial support to them. The generosity of the congregation can always be
witnessed through this ministry.
God’s Kitchen at Grace United Methodist Church
Twice
a year we provide cooks and kitchen help for God’s Kitchen at Grace United
Methodist Church.
HALO
HALO is a Christ-centered faith based ministry
that provides programs and services for the homeless and hurting men, women
and children in our community.
Lion’s Club
The Lion’s Club meets at the church on
the 2nd Thursdays of the month at 6:30 pm.
Salisbury Urban Ministries
UMCOR (United Ministry Committee on
Relief)
UMCOR is a ministry of The United Methodist
Church through the General Board of Global Ministries, and their goal is to
assist the most vulnerable persons affected by crisis or chronic need
without regard to their race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. They
believe all people have God-given worth and dignity. We participate in UMCOR
Sunday and accept donations when a special need arises
